Globefish

Hi! I’m a Globefish

The Globefish, also known as a porcupine fish or puffer fish, have large, oval shaped bodies covered in spines. When threatened, they will inflate their bodies with air or water, making the spines stand up and forming a barrier agaisnt predators. They are poisonous to consume. Globefish are found widely off the south coast of Australia.

The National Zoo & Aquarium is home to 1 Globefish, Pip.
