Southern Rock Lobster

Hi! I’m a Southern Rock Lobster

The Southern Rock Lobster inhabits coastal areas of southern Australia and New Zealand. They don't possess claws, only long, sturdy spines. Although a single female lobster can carry up to one millions eggs at a time, its predicted only two of these will survive into adulthood.

The Southern Rock Lobster supports a vital fishery, creating employment and income for rural communities.

The National Zoo & Aquarium is home to 2 Southern Rock Lobsters.
